Women’s & Men’s Programs

Three Episcopal Church Women’s Chapters

The Episcopal Church Women are committed to supporting the programs and mission philosophy of the parish, contributing time, talent and treasure to a variety of undertakings. The ECW represents all women in the parish, although the membership of three established chapters - St. Boniface, St. Francis and St. George's - carry out the bulk of the duties. Each of the chapters has a distinctive personality and purpose, providing "something for everyone."

St. Boniface Chapter delivers flowers to shut-ins, donates to local charities and manages the Café during the Christmas Shop. The chapter will meet in All Saints' parish hall at 7:00 p.m. on September 14 and November 9, 2009, and on January 11 and March 8, 2010.

St. Francis Chapter meets on the second Monday of the month at noon in the All Saints' parish hall for fellowship and to plan involvement in parish activities. St. Francis ECW helps with a service of Holy Communion at Brandywine, an assisted living community. They also sponsor the Potpourri Booth at the Christmas Shop.

St. George's Chapter meets on the second Monday of the month (except July) at 10:00 a.m. to plan coffee hours and focus on other events at St. George's Chapel. The group meets on Thursdays to make crafts which they sell in the St. George's Booth at the Christmas Shop. Recently this chapter has sponsored an annual Christmas Fair in December at the St. George's Parish Hall.

Two Episcopal Church Men’s Groups

The Boardwalk Boys, All Saints' men's group, meet at 7:00 p.m. in the parish hall the second Wednesday of each month, year 'round. Formed in February of 2009, this group has many missionary projects in the planning stages. Each Spring and Fall, the Boardwalk Boys host pulled-pork suppers which raise funds for community outreach projects. They invite any interested men from All Saints' to join them. For more information, contact George Singer at (302) 644-8963.

The Dragons, St. George's men's group, hold a regular monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m. the third Thursday of each month year 'round in the parish hall at St. George's. The group also meets for breakfast the first Tuesday of each month. The Dragons host a Family Fall Festival in September on the grounds of the parish hall, and also host a pancake supper fund-raiser on Shrove Tuesday. The men also oversee the landscaping needs of the parish hall grounds. Funds raised benefit many community organizations. For more information contact David Risseeuw at (302) 945-3230.

Women's Ministries

One of the most visible projects during the year is the Christmas Shop held each year since 1962 during Columbus Day weekend in October at the Convention Center. Approximately $20,000 is donated to charities, primarily local ones as a result of this event.

The ECW chapters are also hostesses for the Bishop's annual visits to both churches and for the annual parish meeting.

Each of the ECW chapters has its own community outreach projects, and these active groups hope to accomplish and to give more each year.

The chapters have separate meeting schedules and generally meet September through May, though the St. George's chapter has a group of craftswomen who meet weekly throughout the summer and early fall in preparation for the Christmas Shop.

Please consider joining the women of the parish and enjoying the rewards of fellowship and spreading the love of God through the ministries of the ECW. For more information on the chapters, please contact Laura Dotterer, ECW President through the parish office. 227-7202.
