Service Opportunities
within the Parish
Lay Eucharistic Leaders and Lectors
Each Sunday, the priest celebrating the service has someone serving with him at the altar. Lay Eucharistic Leaders assist with Holy Communion, read the lessons and lead the prayers of the people. Lectors assist with the readings. If you are interested in becoming a Lay Assistant and would like to volunteer to be scheduled regularly or even occasionally at All Saints', please contact Melissa in the parish office. If you attend
St. George's and would like to volunteer as a Lay Assistant or as a Lector, please contact Jan Bendrick through the Parish office, 227-7202.
Altar Guild
The Altar Guilds of both All Saints' Church in Rehoboth Beach and St. George's Chapel in Harbeson offer opportunities for women (and men) to serve on a monthly basis preparing the Altar for each service. The Altar Guild's work is a thank-offering of time and many talents, a ministry of love undertaken in the name of Christ. At our churches, altar work is done in teams of two and instruction is offered to those new to this ministry. If you feel called to serve God by preparing and tending to the place where we worship God, please contact the Altar Guild Directress:

Men as well as women will be warmly welcomed.
Acolytes
All of God's children 8 years and older are welcome to serve at the altar. Acolyte instruction is offered to those new to this service. One of the great joys for all of us is the presence and participation of children and youth in church services. Adults are also welcome to serve at the altar. Hospitality
This committee organizes several events, most of which are the highlights of the year at All Saints' and St. George's. Among the events they plan and host are the "Meet, Greet and Eat" garden party held in the Rector's Wife's Garden to welcome newcomers to the parish each June, the Maundy Thursday Lamb Supper-a superb full course dinner held in our parish hall, and the reception that follows our Lessons and Carols Service in December. Please consider lending your time and talents to this wonderful ministry. This Committee would welcome your support. For more information, please contact the parish office.
Ushers
Two ushers are at the door to meet and greet worshipers at each Sunday morning as well as at numerous other services held at our churches during the year. Duties include opening the church and adjusting the heat and a/c for comfort during worship, helping people to seats, distributing bulletins/programs, passing the collection plates, and directing worshipers to the altar for Holy Communion. After services, the ushers ready the church for the next service as well as tally the collection. Men and women both are welcome to this important service to the church. Breakfast/Coffee Hosts
Sunday mornings at All Saints' we offer a full breakfast after the 8:00 a.m. service and provide a coffee hour in the parish hall following the 10:00 a.m. service. Volunteer hosts cook and serve. At St. George's, volunteers host a coffee hour in the parish hall after the 9:30 a.m. service. Consider volunteering to host one of these wonderful times of fellowship. Outreach beyond the Parish
While the parish has many outreach programs, two of the most outstanding ones serve to provide many benefits for the community and its children:
All Saints' Antiques Show
Since 1949, this outreach ministry of the parish has invited fine antiques dealers to Rehoboth Beach for a show that is months in the making. Traditionally held the first weekend of August, a Wednesday evening gala preview party celebrates the beginning of a fabulous three-day show. Funds raised benefit the community and its children. The show is a huge undertaking coordinated by volunteers from the parish. To volunteer your time, please the parish office, 227-7202 for further information.
All Saints' Parish Thrift Shop

The Thrift Shop has recently moved to a new location in Rehoboth Beach Plaza, 3712 US Highway 1. (Just south of the canal bridge.)
Each year, this outreach ministry of the parish contributes tens of thousands of dollars in the community. Sales of donated new and gently used clothing, house wares, and furniture from the people and businesses in our community make this possible. The Thrift shop has one paid staff member but operates otherwise because 70+ volunteers give so freely of their time. Call Carole Olstead at the Thrift Shop at 226-3123 and ask her what you can do to help.
In the Office
It takes a village, it really does, to help spread "The Good News." In case you thought we did it alone, stop by the office to see who is helping answer the phones, fold bulletins, give directions, or offering an ear or a smile to someone who is in need. We need you! A ministry all its own: working in the parish office. We have volunteers in the office Monday through Thursday from 9:30- 12:30 and other times when we're really busy.
